The reason you associate the work "YOMP" with the Falklands is possibly due to the Marines having to YOMP across the whole bloody island after some daft bugger decided to put all 4 troop transporters (Chinooks) on the same boat which was promptly sunk (by a French exocet air to sea). This was the only possible way they were able ro reach their intended target and it was a gamble whether it would be able ot pull it off, which they did.
Oh, and this "brand" looks terrible, outdoor-hipster-by-numbers-my-first-waterproof.

In my mind Yomping is associated with the Falklands; wiki suggests it was the press coverage of the war that brought the term to wider attention. Definitely military-inflected, and along with this bloke's politics makes me think the constant repetition is partly born of some waltish desire to seem well 'ard...
