Day off today so no commute for me. But was going into town nice and casual, until a taxi crushes my rear wheel approaching Westminster Bridge. It's very dead. Cool cool cool cool cool.

Fuuuuck that! did he stop?
-
• #24855
Yeah, stopped, argued a bit, he gave me cash. So not the worst conclusion. But had to walk back to elephant and castle to get the train home

I had that before. The fella who pulled out in front of me was like: "no cops no cops, please please please don't call the police - how much for a new front wheel - I'll give you cash right now?"
I had no idea, cos I was new to cycling so thought £50 sounded about right.
He then went to the passenger foot well of this car and brings out a carrier bag stuffed full of £50 notes and gives me one! Still kicking myself to this day for lowballing myself. That 50 only just got about got a new wheel let alone tyre and all that gubbins. -

If someone’s that keen not to involve the cops, it makes me feel like I should definitely involve the cops!

I did think that but then also needed to get to work on time that day. Perhaps not the best citizen on my partbut he was genuine about his worry and offered to drive me to a nearby hospital if I was hurt.

He's going to hit some cobbles soon. If I've spotted the turn correctly. That's going to be painful...

CD? Bloody hipsters...
Dropped my daughter off at pre-school this morning with Slayer blasting out of the car. Her idea to have it up loud, the little show-off.

Quiet out this morning except for the slangging match between a bus driver and cyclist by Kingston Hospital traffic lights. Driver was out of his cab totally losing his rag and getting it in back in kind from the cyclist. Something about highway code etc. Bus driver apologised to me, but not hte other cyclist after I told him to calm down and breathe. They both went the same way up the hill so I hope no more aggro broke out!

I used to think London bus drivers were bad til I went on my honeymoon to Malta. Jesus wept.

Route advice from Crystal Palace to Paddington please?

Gypsy Hill > Brixton > Oval > Vauxhall > Victoria > Hyde Park > Paddy ?

I'd go over Tulse hill and Chelsea bridge (depends a little on time of day) then up through Sloane Square, exhibition road and across Hyde park.
Like this from west Norwood. Could
come other side of brockwell park and jiggle through to the acre lane/kings ave crossroad.

thanks @wence and @monkdagola. Is Vauxhall still a death trap? I've never had to cross the river there...
I can confirm it was because you looked so majestical and attractive. Hope this puts your mind at rest.
