Yay! Hope they're as good as the old ones.

No Haribo with my socks :(

The Gauge based versions were nice, but too pricey for a shoe that self destructed after about 12 months use. Maybe the new ones will be a bit more durable.

So I had a pair of actual Gauges and thought they were pretty robust. I bought them second hand, then spent a year and half messengering in them. They did die eventually, but they held up damn well.

Maybe you got a duff pair. Mine have held up very well so far, although I use them for touring not crossering.

The Gauges had an EC70 soles, the Cross shoes have the stiffer EC90. They're great on the bike but I find them too stiff to do any sort of walking in, I can't imagine they're great for running around a CX course.

Pretty much my experience exactly. Equally poor for any hike a bike when gravel riding

Yeah I raced XC and CX on mine. Had two pairs. Destroyed toe box and heal tread way before the rest of the shoe was ready for the bin.
Compared to dominators they are made of cheese, but I guess you could say that about most racey XC shoes.

What’s the hive mind view on the current transfer jacket? My original one is coming to its end of life and I need a new jacket that is similar, that is ideal for cold autumn and winter mornings that can be packed down to fit in a small bag when it warms up a bit and is presentable enough to be worn at work. Does the current one meet those criteria?

down jacket is here, matches your brompton: https://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/stories/explore-down-jacket

It’s vapourware at the moment- the link to buy 404s.

That's just how the new Rapha site works now
-

I don't like the cut of the new one quite as much as the old, but I'd have said it was smart enough for work. Can't speak to the performance; my old one's still presentable enough that I've only tried the newer one on.

OG one is much better. Warmer, more of a jacket.
Current one is a bit meh. -

Link now works.
£220 doesn’t sound as crazy as I was expecting, or have I just been re-educated?

Sounds like you'd appreciate the watch thread:

Bit unfortunate they lead with a photo that makes the jacket look like a bin bag on the model.

“Sleep system” lol

if any of this was made by PHD and Rapha just collaborated with them I'd buy it in an instant .. kinda like Apidura collab; which I didnt buy because fuck #bikepacking
There is a real lack of innovation here, its re-arranging deckchairs on a Patagonia down jacket.
The last product rapha really innovated was insulate gilet IMO

The lack of technical info on the jacket fill temp / rating isn't inspiring to use as an alternative to a sleeping bag.
-
• #31998
Was there not any less rocky ground to sleep on? In the middle of the day?

Not suggesting it’s value for money, just that I wouldn’t have fallen off my chair in shock if it had been higher.
there will be brand new ones coming out soon, i believe.
