• The other place I forgot about was qualitywines in Farringdon. Spin off from quality chop house - I haven’t been so cant personally sign it off but friends are raving about it

  • Thanks again for your recommendations - my wife had actually tried to get us a table at Sabor. Indeed I hadn't realised that she was looking after the booking and we ended up going to temper: https://temperrestaurant.com/temper-soho/

It was pretty good - the smoked goat, blackened pepper salsa, nduja and the Malbec we ordered were all excellent - and I'd go again, but it wasn't perfect by any means. The 'Beef fat potatoes with Ogleshield', which both Jay Rayner and Grace Dent seemed to be blown away by just tasted rancid to me, and the 'Burrata, lime & jalapeno' was a complete mistake. It was literally just a ball of cold mozarella with lime juice and some very thinly sliced chilli. For £147, I think it was over priced by about £40 - and that was how much the wine was.

I think this was just down to some bad ordering, though - as I said, I would go again. The restaurant itself reminded me a lot of Dukes Brew and Que, which incidentally has re-opened as https://www.beef-and-brew.co.uk/
