  • A decent headlamp is a good investment. Useful in so many ways. I used to use a little maglite, I could swap engines on the TZR overnight with just that and the streetlights. I wouldn't want to do it now though.

  • I used to have one somewhere, but it started to fade a bit.

Tbh there was some poetic license as I have one of these rechargeable work lights that are fucking brilliant:

Altho there is still a lot of torch-in-mouth action.

  • Altho there is still a lot of torch-in-mouth action.

    Get a head torch dude.

No power in my garage so I used to have to hold a torch in my mouth to unlock a bike in the morning and lock itup at night, headtorch makes it soooooo much easier. I'll do basic maintenance, chain lubing, fixing punctures etc by the headtorch and I've even done a bit of brazing by it.

  • Invisibility Training for Motorcyclists --> this should really apply to cyclists of all types in my opinion, it's really useful ... we are all invisible!

  • I really enjoy riding my Tenere, I'd like the idea of a twin though. The thumper can be a bit vibey.

If it's reasonably priced I'd shop mine in for it.

My Ten much earlier, away for winter now. It's a summer pastime in Scotland.

  • Went and saw a Kawasaki ER6F in Bexleyheath. It was clean, had a few scratches but all round a good example. Sat on it and rode it down the road. I wanted it! Gave the bloke some money and I was on my way. Absolutely love it!

I had one of those when I passed my test - was a good first big bike - I didn't really like the motor sound, although maybe improved with after market pipe

  • I’m pleasantly surprised with the sound at the moment but a new can is definitely on the Christmas list!

  • No power in my garage so I used to have to hold a torch in my mouth to unlock a bike in the morning ......

I breathed a sigh of relief after I finished reading your post. It felt like it was leading up to a horror story of you swallowing a mini maglite or painfully losing a tooth. Phew.

    Led headtorch = win

  • No swallowing, no loss of teeth but plenty or wiping my drool from the end of said torch and rubbing my sore jaw afterwards ;)

  • Wow, that looks way way better than I thought it would be? What's it like on the road?

  • Try adding a bit of 99ipa into the fuel.

  • What are you week end plans? Think I have a pair of oil filter pliers. straps and chains. Also second oil pan.

    Sometimes company can help.

Think a friend has a jumper pack to help.

  • Amazing if a bit scary solo mission out in the desert yesterday. Incredible riding.

  • Bat country I tell ya!

  • Sorry man. Only just saw this.

Unfortunately it was a strict schedule of DIY and I'm not going to be able to access the bike until at least next week.

Monitoring the battery and I can't help but think that was/is the issue. Apparently the EFI bonnie range require a 12.5v to crank the engine.

I forgot to take a measurement last night and this morning. But it's showing a slow loss.

  • Looks epic.

    Very Breaking Bad.

  • Where was this when i was in town?

The Harley could have made it...

  • Seriously, can I ask why you're even bothering with all this? That battery's fucked. 12.11 is practically dead. Crank that bike and it'll suck the juice right out of it with more disappointing results.

@Jung is it a 'oh look, a mountain, let's go to it' case for riding out there?

  • What do you guys think are essential fo an on board mini tool kit?
Especially for an 1982 italian bike.

  • A recovery to home or garage of your choosing would be mandatory imo ;)

Usually take whatever are the most common Allen keys, sockets, rear axle spanner, duck tape, electrical tape, zip ties, patch kit, pump and levers, screwdriver and a bit of wire (100cm which is the max length ever going to be needed) and some knock off leather man type tool. All fits in the tail inside an oilly rag.
Oh bit of old inner tube as well, can use for many things, stopping cables touching, split coolant or oil hose (dry sump bike) etc

  • Camping stove, coffee percolator & sunglasses when waiting for a recovery van.

In all seriousness would be interested too

  • Vespa watch, for anyone who might be a fanboy but doesn’t frequent the watch thread.

  • can I ask why you're even bothering with all this?

    To assertain that;

    That battery's fucked.

Which I have so I've ordered a Motobatt. Hopefully I can get it in next Monday.

  • In mine:

    • Recovery policy / useful info
    • Allen keys (can't remember which, but the most common ones on my bike)
    • mini tyre plug kit
    • C02
    • cheap baby leather knockoff
    • zip ties
    • pencile with ductape wrapped around it.
    • mini pen torch

Always thought one of these would be quite neat.
