  • Excellent day yesterday, didnt really have a plan, but ended up doing a loop up out of Reading, Henley, Fawley, Turville Heath, Christmas Common, Watlington Hill, along the Chiltern Way to Nuffield, then Stoke Row and through the woods for a pint stop at The Unicorn, back via Kidmore End and Bugs Bottom. Ate lots, had a little smoke. Route crossed over with some of the Backpacking Ride from the other week. Was out for about 7 hrs, although route only seems to have been 35 miles.... :)

3 pints in the evening, then a hummus salad in pitta with chips = big sleep

  • Little MTB out to Goring and back. Lovely afternoon. Discovered a new pub, The Sun Inn at Witchurch Hill. Would have been happy to stop.

  • Nice loop down to McLaren Vale and back via Wickhams hill and Clarendon, which are both absolutely great climbs.

  • Pieced together a 90km route of mostly bridleways and singletrack linked with tiny lanes in Essex. Bit of the Flitch Way railway trail and lunch at Rayne Station. Got a bit hike-a-bike in places and I ended up wading through ankle deep mud where I think a stream recently burst it's banks.

  • Gravel smash down the Thames yesterday.

  • Still nice weather in Copenhagen

  • I miss how impeccable the condition of the roads are in Australia, even the gravel roads! I've only just crawled out of the sinkhole i crashed into last December in Kent!

  • That airplane is going to land on that bridge, and then the boat is going to bump into the bridge! Shit!

  • ...and calm waves sinuscurvin' to oblivion

  • Bristol our to Cheddar Gorge and back yesterday. Lovely on the way out, got caught in a full on snow storm on the Mendips on the way home, gloves soaked, absolutely freezing. Managed to limp back to a train station 17 miles outside of town and bailed after sitting in a cafe to regain motor control. Unexpected. Coldest I’ve ever been on a bike - cue a splurge on Wiggle.

  • DHB Deep Winter FLT gloves, Aeron full protection softshell, BTwin 900 ultralight rain jacket. Hopefully do the trick with an Alpkit merino baselayer until spring.

  • Monday: Found a £20 note on the A320 near Thorpe Park (it made up for having to ride along such a shitty section of dual carriageway, luckily one lane was coned off for hedge trimming so I could ride, and stop, without being bothered by cars).

Today: Donated it to Glassdoor thanks to the free firework show at a nearby church.

70km ride around the Woking area tomorrow to bag more Veloviewer tiles (and I've also just finished reading War of the Worlds so it'll be good to see many of the places named in the book.) Not looking forward to the short section of A3 up to Wisley though.

  • Went looking for new places. Found old places but was super pretty.

  • Last Sunday's group ride. Lots of stop and start. In the end I did lots of extra climbing because someone insisted I do repeats until the group was on top.
When they disbanded I was so close to 100k and 2000 vert that I did one extra hill to tick it over.
