I’ve been thinking about this whole shitshow. The Rutland CC thing is indicative of a wider problem in cycling - it’s not exactly a diverse sport. Certainly not at club level.
I’m proud to say that my club (Kingston Wheelers) are in the Comic this week due to an initiative where we sent a load of old kit out to a club in Nigeria to encorage to sport to develop over there. This sort of thing is great, and helps alter the perception that road cycling is just for MAMILS. However, looks like there’s a lot of work to be done closer to home, too.
