Basically looking for a good portrait camera, medium format, for taking pics out and about with the most ease. Oh ye, and that isn't at Fujifilm GA645Zi, because I cant find one of them for a price that doesn't make me cry

Medium format SLRs are really not ideal for shooting portrait-oriented.
So if this is what the camera will be used for predominantly I'd get something more suited - and a GA645 indeed is (I'd prefer the regular version).
You can get them for €500 in nice condition - which is, frankly, not a lot of money for a proper medium format camera with a great lens.
Of course you can go cheaper / "less great", but then maybe it'd be just smarter to just get a nice portrait lens for whatever 35mm camera you have. -

Also gotta say I was asking myself what was holding you guys back in the past - now it's clear there are a lot of people who like to shoot cars!
: ]Love all three of the little ones @Turkish - the cars themselves as well as photos, also the colours (what film is that? Fuji?)
@cagimaha - both gorgeous. Kinda wish the framing wasn't so tight with the Citroen. Also - what film, if I may ask?

@luke572 I'd probably second going the 35mm route if you want to do quick portraits and something like the GA645 is out of your price range. You can pick up an auto-focus 35mm SLR with a portrait lens for peanuts in comparison.
What do you want to with your photos ? If shooting with a fine grain portrait film like Portra or Fuji Pro etc you're probably not going to notice a difference between 35mm and 120 unless your printing at A2 or larger size.

Thanks for the input man, that's really helpful!
I think your right, I might just save up, sell my Yashica T4, and hold out for a GA645 because that is what would be most suited to what I'm looking for.
Thanks

You're welcome!
Hope things work out well for you and you find a camera you enjoy shooting.I guess making a smart decision on what to get (and saving up for it) is worth it -
frankly you are going to burn money with medium format (film / dev / scan) anyway..
..so might as well shoot with a proper camera - one that gives you results so satisfactory the whole undertaking is worthwhile

Thanks! Colorplus 200 in Mju ii. Ridiculously capable film. Think all 3 of those shots are in Serbia!

Yeah I think I had my back up against the car parked on the opposite side of the street already :(
Beamer is on Kodak ColorPlus 200 and the Citroen is on some ancient Kodak "High Definition" HD200 I got a job lot of years ago already expired and I've been using for testing new cameras.
I'll have to have a dredge and see what other car snaps I've got. It's definitely a fave theme of mine.

sorry, just seen this message. Ive currently got a Nikon f90x which is actually really good for portraits. But I just wanted to see what medium format is like, and I was thinking about making some prints so I thought it would be worthwhile.
I actually took the plunge on a fuji ga645zi last night after speaking to a mate who shoots on one a lot. Made 200 quid for my Yashica T4, and sold a stone island jacket for £100 in the day, so wasn't such a painful hit. Really looking forward to shooting on it!

Ha, that’s basically the position I took mine from. This was from a ride from London to Amsterdam about five years ago.

I've got the F90's predecessor, the F801 which I really like.
Enjoy the Fuji, they do look really nice. Be sure to post some of the results here ! -

How come ? Was thinking I'd be more suited to the Pentax though, considering I want to be using it out and about on the street more, so thinking the auto features on the 645 might come in handy when taking portraits of people who might not want to spend more than a few mins with me
