Yeah, but my point is that disks always have the same or better clearance than any rim brake (plus you could do 650b and stuff). But sounds like you know what you want and I'm not one to dissuade people from slightly strange plans so go for it.
You could also try mini-Vs, there's some discussion in this thread I think. Most of the same advantages of cantis but much better braking.

I’m all ears to ideas, mini v’s sounds interesting. I’ll look into that thanks.
As I said upthread I won’t actually work on this project until next spring, so plenty of time to ruminate.
650b sounds interesting though now. Would a disk tab braze on well to a buttressed triangle? I could potentially contemplate the cost if it means I have something reliable that’ll last and last... -

Another candidate for that sort of thing is this useless 26.8 steel seat post

Off topic but regarding your wood bending on instagram, hire an industrial steamer. They're cheap, the tanks are massive compared to those little ones and you can have them switched on for hours.

Thanks,
I am working on something similar.
If it was my own workshop and not my work's workshop I'd use propane burners and a proper barrel.
But, as this is a university workshop I can't use stuff I made myself. We are looking for dealers on our procurement system where we can buy industrial steamers... Thanks tho -

There isn't such a thing

You could make one?

• #1342
Yeah yeah. I know I should.

I made some racks instead.
The one on the left is for my GT. The one on the right is for my wife's bike, but I am not sure about the shape. I might change things...

You still have relatively long bikes tho! Im 193 and all legs as well, but 57cm tt and a 100mm stem with flatbars is almost too long for me. I guess its also a matter of how agressive the individual wants to sit. On the other hand i can handle lots of drop cuz my arms are hella long (200cm wingspan)

i dont know why but i just thought about titanic! magical scene! (not the steamy one!)

Hah! Yea id be a fucking brilliant kate winslet
I feel ok brazing canti studs on the forks as the frame is 531cs so the forks and stays are plain gauge 501 rather than butted 531. It’s mostly for clearance and the fact I want to try it over other factors tbh.
