This I find strange - as a vegan ultrarunner (with a Vegan Runners vest), I've never had anyone even mention the veganism other than to ask about how we fuel ourselves though races. There are quite a few vegans at the very top level (Scott Jurek being the most obvious example). And most runners are in awe of the guys at the sharp end, male or female - I've never heard anything remotely sexist in the sport.
She might mean Dean Karnazes though - he's a cunt.
It’s also mentioned in the movie, and I think because she came into the race as an underdog with a bad knee and her humble approach people were like “WTF?”, but no hate or anything.
