Fiona Oakes
I heard her speak at World Vegan Day at Karamel a few years ago. She basically brought the house down while apologising several times that she wasn't a good public speaker (we begged to differ). Highlights I remember were being told she couldn't mention her veganism while interviewed on running by the BBC, doing some insane run in the Antarctic and not being popular with the men and/or non-vegans she beat, running her sanctuary, doing the Marathon des Sables ...

This I find strange - as a vegan ultrarunner (with a Vegan Runners vest), I've never had anyone even mention the veganism other than to ask about how we fuel ourselves though races. There are quite a few vegans at the very top level (Scott Jurek being the most obvious example). And most runners are in awe of the guys at the sharp end, male or female - I've never heard anything remotely sexist in the sport.
She might mean Dean Karnazes though - he's a cunt.
A quick detour from the vegan junkfood...
I really recommend everyone to watch the documentary “running for good” with UK vegan runner Fiona Oakes. She is a star.
You can watch it here and it’s really worth the few bucks that goes to supports her sanctuary.
