@frankenbike you're really over thinking strathpuffer, you will find the cycling part of it is the least of your worries

Is ice the primary concern? No wait, locals! Or, maybe polar bears? Too much whisky? Not enough whisky?
Motorbikers?

17” for a 6ft person... hmm...

Haha NO.

So Plan B, what about my inital shortlist?
-
• #12469
Would be a pig of a project if you're just looking for some relativly simple trouble free light mountain biking - the marin or kona would be much better bets.
It's just a bit a rarity to see lying around. What is it destined for down there?

• #12470
Marin looks like it has newish forks. I'd go for that.
-
• #12471
Okay I’ll see what I can get the Marin for, it was my first (only) choice initially. That LTS2, shop manager said “yea, no, no good as a winter hack, it was built for downhill, I’d sell it as-is to an avid MTB collector to tart up as a project”...

Bargs. Got home and realised there’s a split in the sidewall of the rear tyre, but I can grab loads of 559’s off the ever-growing pile out back. Will try to find a pair of jumbo slicks and a pair of monster treads.
