most willbe authorised stores,so have the following;
5 bikes, 5 bags, 1 demo bike .... not a lot really!
No sweat for us at sjs, just a bit of brand damage IMO.
Evans will go, they want to expand to 100,000 bikes a year, they "need" the biggest bike business on board to do so.
Halfrauds will probably buy Evans imo.

Justification is probably that Halfords sells to the campervan/caravan lot who just want a folding bike for their summer holidays to Lake Garda?
-
• #5329
Lake Garda
Lake Como, smaller, better.
-
• #5330
Already an 8 week lead time though, how are they going to fulfill any more orders?
-
• #5331
Grow the premises.
-
• #5332
Brompton describe it as a “partnership” ... have halfrauds invested?
-
• #5333
When I was working there a couple of years ago they were at 1/3 capacity in the new factory. They were selling 45000 bikes at the time.
-
• #5334
What I’m saying is, current lead time is 8 weeks and they’re not even on top of things with the electric yet. Trying to drive sales is only going to result in longer waits and more quality issues.
-
• #5335
Lead time is due to 10000 things, raw material supply being just one that could delay etc... sjscycles having 75 bikes being another! ;)

both shimano and SON dynamo setups on sale at SJS

Why that huge difference in price?
It'd be nice to forget about charging the lights and get this for my Brompton
-
• #5338
Son is 100x better (better front lamp too) well worth the money.
-
• #5339
Son has 5 year warranty, well water sealed and much better quality
-
• #5340
Yeah but that radial built slotted son hub though!!!
£219 fully builtAlso what’s the saving? £120 for wheel and lights sounds good, but need to know how much I’m saving to make the leap..

About 20% off, we sell regularly so would have naturally cleared in less than a few months but I wanted to get them moving as sp dynamo on the way, and yes, sjs will still offer son Xs and 28 as Brompton pre built customs

You guys know if these hubs provide current ONLY to the lights or if a cable can be brought up to the handlebars (think USB charging)
-
• #5343
Also, I think a nice BB Dynamo would be a very neat option too! (with cables going thru the insides and out thru some drilling in the tubes)
Two dynamos is better than one.

You can extend/split out an additional wire from the hub to a bar-mount USB converter. If the lights are on it'll simply pull most of the power away from the USB box.
I got the SON option after having a similar set up inc a B+M USB-Werk on my tourer for a while. The light the SON Brompton set up comes with has a better beam pattern than the Shimano option, but it's not as good (wide or high lux) as an Edelux 2. Still, a really good option. Recommended.

Is the son xs dynamo hub/Wheelbuild, lighter than the son dynamo on sale?
#bromptonweightsavings -
• #5346
Yes, I can tell you specifically how much tomorrow!
-
• #5347
A BB dynamo would only provide power when you pedal. Not much use for lights
-
• #5348
Most lights have a decent stand light, 3-5 minutes for the rear, so it’s go potential...
-
• #5349
Uh? The front wheel one does the same?
Unless these one also have an internal battery, in which case yes, you're right.
But still good IMHO. -
• #5350
What I mean is the front one works any time you're rolling whilst BB dynamo works only when you're pedaling. With no stand light/capacitors/batteries/etc. and only a BB dynamo you'd have no lights if you coasted down a hill for example. Also it'd have to be quite robust to withstand full torque and the cabling would be complicated with two dynamos. Just some first order considerations, it could work though
Halfords, 22 Cycle Republics, 2 Tredz... fucking joke
