  • Always good to have a spare pump though, if you anyway have to carry the dowel.

  • hmm I use a similar pump, surely those leather straps cant be as sturdy as zip ties? plus the holes in the bag will have to be bigger.

  • They seem to be the straps that come with the bag, and similar to the ones that carradice uses, if you dont have the quickrelease thing, so that shouldn't be the problem.

  • Old tent tubing would work as well.

  • Anyone looking for a Carradice SQR Tour? The 16L one (edit: has pouches on the side, unlike the SQR Slim)
I know someone looking to sell a pair for a good price but I only want one so I'm looking for someone to go in with me, preferably someone based in London to simplify logistics...
    PM me if you're interested.

  • Tell your pal you'll have both.
    Settle up at a Wests?

  • Sounds good. It does not come with the SQR block, just the bag.

  • Any fancy a Classic rack for Brooks or other saddles with loops? Just looking to get rid really, so no charge. Has been very reliable and only getting rid as my brooks was stolen.

I'd wrapped the bottom with bar tape, mostly through vanity.

  • @mattioats can I take that pls? will pm

  • I've got a super C SQR tour saddle bag that I'd like to fit to an old peugeot... but it has a skinny 23.4mm seatpost. the clamp is wayyyy too gappy to work (it's the standard one not the oversized one).

If I fashion a shim from some old innertube, wrapping the seatpost to give it some added chunk is that going to be sufficient? I wondered if this might be an option. I'm a bit worried whatever I try the bag will still be swinging around all over the place.

  • if the answer is no, build another bike i could probably get on board with that.

  • no, build another bike

That is the forum approved response

  • I'd wrap the seat post in aluminium cut from a drink can and wrapped round a few times to make up the size. It's easy to work, and easily available. Rubber will compress too much and deteriorate quite quickly.

  • Drink a can of beer, cut the empty can into narrow strips and build them up one on top of the other until it’s a few mm thick, then recycle it and build a new bike.

  • quality advice, thank you!

  • I just got a used Super C made by Susan from @Scrabble. I guess it has already been counted on here.
Looking at the list of names the gender diversity doesn't appear to have changed, but maybe there's a shift in the ethnic origin of some of the crafts people.

  • Don't think I updated the tally so feel free to add another for Susan.

Hope Brexit doesn't stop our Lancastrian friends from continuing their diversity drive. First man made bag will be a big event.

  • Anybody got a Super C Audax they want to part with?

  • Would like to swap my Bagman Expedition support for the shorter Sport version. Just the steel rail. Anyone?

  • Is it possible to use the Carradice bagman quick release on its own, or do you have to have a wire thingy going round as well? I would only be putting light stuff in the seatpack anyway (mostly clothes perhaps lunch) Basically can I just use the widget below:

    https://www.carradice.co.uk/products/saddle-fixing-systems/bagman-quick-release-saddlebag-clamp

  • Yep totally. It's how I use mine.

  • I have the QR clamp for ease of removal; because I have a pannier rack I just let my Camper Longflap rest on the rack. My Barley I'd be fine attaching without a rack - you might find a toestrap round the seatpost quicker/easier than the Carradice buckle fixing.

  • Looking at these (again) for christmas.
I'd probably go for the super c saddlebag, I prefer buckles to straps and have the matching panniers. The longflap looks appealing but I feel it's one of those 'if you have the space you'll fill it' situations too.

I'm having a think around mounting it though, I'll be commuting so probably a bagman qr expedition. Am I right in thinking that this will hold the bag out like:
    https://iliketoridemybicycle.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/img_0106.jpg
    ?
It would be nice to have the bag sitting closer to the seatpost, as they hang naturally, like in the pics here:
    https://www.carradice.co.uk/bags/saddlebags/super-c-saddlebag

Does anyone have any opinions on bending the rods so they're lower? I guess then the qr mechanism might be at a funny angle?

  • Just get the QR without the bagman support. Can always replace the leather strap with something less fiddly for the seatpost loop
