Are they compatible with me smart meters and will the replace them if not?need to get out of it from British Gas, as prices are going up and up..
-
• #25636
We have a smart meter for the elec, that british gas put in.
Don't know what compatible means, I still have to input readings.
-
• #25637
Compatible means that the readings from them go direct to bulb so I don’t have to send readings they do it automatically.
Read reports that not all smart meters work with electric/gas suppliers, so don’t want to have to swap smart meters everytime I swap suppliers, if I swap suppliers in the future.. -
• #25638
Yeah, so that's a no I guess.

• #25639
Cheers, I've been meaning to switch for a while and these seem decent.
-
• #25641
I reckon sometime in the next couple of years they'll sort out the 'smart meters can only report to their original supplier' nonsense.
The regulators will just force the original suppliers to forward on the readings to the relevant suppliers much like you just get a PAC to switch mobile contracts.
I can't think of any technological reason why they can't solve it this way, but everyone seems to think that the only solution is a smarter smart meter.

Damn, WJP got his 1 year Bulb anniversary a day before me
£100 for anyone here too

That wasn't my quibble :)
It's the other 90% of the gas they supply.
I'm with bulb too but their gas is 90% fossil fuel. -

it's time to re mortgage. Thinking a 5 year fixed rate is best with the uncertainty of brexit and of our current situation, (may be heading back to uk) is anyone else looking at new mortgages atm and any thoughts on best deals etc.
-
• #25650
I went through the the person that organized ours, got a five year fixed, our LTV is now about 72%.
This will mean NADA when the apocalypse comes.
I might give them a chance with their 'free' valuation to see how efficient it all is. Those here in the office who carry out mortgage valautions don't rate their admin/customer service, but I'm hoping potential buyers won't have to deal with them much.
