As part of their efforts to lose whatever cachet the brand once had, it appears Rapha are now using Hermes for deliveries rather than RM. Hence why today's parcel was allegedly left in reception, but the clerks are emphatic that nothing was delivered. Anyone tried Ashmei stuff? Thinking of defecting for some new Autumn gear.

There is nothing between rapha and dhb, its either or

With Ashmei gear I'm aiming for a step up from Rapha, not down.

Just checked that brand out as I'd never heard of them - holy cow that is expensive. Honest question here, why is it worth it to you to spend that much?
I've had gear of varying quality, and honestly, I've come to this conclusion: as long as the fit is right (and that is not correlated to the price), the only thing I'm willing to pay a lot of money for is the pad. That is important. But jerseys for example? I've bought second-hand Castellis and never had a second thought about them, which in my mind means they work as well as they can. What actual upgrade does a jersey for >150 quid bring?

That’s because there is an overlap in terms of performance, quality and design...

I like nice things, and I've probably got more money than sense. And IME some pricey kit is worth the extra. Rapha Shadow kit, for example. Stupidly expensive, but absolutely awesome in practice.

Fair enough regarding breathable waterproof stuff I suppose. But for normal nice weather kit, I honestly have never understood what actual difference it makes. I mean sure, don't go for the cheapest option, you usually notice the materials being more crap. But above a certain price point... I don't know, I've tried it, and to me an s/l jersey is an s/l jersey. I would definitely consider spending more for a really cool design, but more often than not, the expensive stuff is exceedingly boring as well!

I find with the better stuff the fit is better, the materials are better so they wick sweat better, and they last longer. The Rapha ProTeam lightweight stuff, for example, is definitely more comfortable for me than other lower spec jerseys. Then again, I sweat like the proverbial horse, so it's possibly more of an issue for me than most.

If you think Rapha is over priced shit, Ashmei are next level.

Anyone got the Off-White jerseys?
Rapha's been dead to me since they closed Abbot Kinney. Crossing the 10 to get a flat white. As if.

• #31965
Whatever about the price I wouldn't be mad on the look of the Ashmei stuff

Just saw some Rapha branded MTB shoes on the commute. Was only a matter of time I guess.
-
• #31971
Been about a while no? they were cross shoes
-
• #31972
Ha! I completely missed those when they came out
-
• #31973
Like the look of that, and pricey to boot.
-
• #31974
They're rather good. I'm hoping they re-release them.

They were slightly re-designed Giro Gauges (excellent MTB / CX shoes) which Rapha won't be producing again. Something new probably though.
Rapha on the buses in London Town.
