Yes, right on. I'm more worried about traction than speed for Strathpuffer. Aside from that I don't ever race so I don't care if I'm slow the rest of the time either, my friends can just wait for me.
Now do I wait and try to find the tyres cheap or just buy them now and get some "training" (lol) done on them? £74 the pair on bike-discount :'(
I find larger volume tyres are good for confidence, yah. Also a bit of insurance against skill deficit.
