In that case would it be better doing the arches once you know the suspension travel and ride height?
Or I should have read further and agreed with @NurseHolliday

So you looking for helpers during race time?
EDIT: Do I bring a hot water urn and a Filter coffee maker? Also child care while you are busy? Small children hands and arms are brilliant at get at things dropped in to a car.

Don't need helpers really, just wanted to see if anyone was interested in coming along for the "experience". Lots of motorsport is really inaccessible and expensive even just to spectate, but with TA, not only can you casually wander through the paddock, I know the cars are not quite GT3 or Touring Cars, but some of the pro and extreme cars are pretty exciting to nose about, see, and hear, and sure if your wildest fantasy is to point a laser thermometer at a tyre and mark it in a spreadsheet, then I can fulfil that for you.

The arches only fit in one place vertically you can really only just them front to back

Is there an engine in the car? I'd wait till the front is settled down. I'd pay close attention to how thing are when the wheel is turned to full lock and suspension is compressed. You can drive on to a curb with one wheel to approximate this.
May be very basic advice sorry if it is.

There’s no engine in the car, but fear not the arch extensions literally only fit in one place, the ride height is irrelevant.

Are you keeping the paint the same? Or going full rally style?

Mobile will struggle with that , needs to be ready shaped, depends how much you can access the inside of that panel (they are often double skinned) to nead it back to flat. Worst bit is right at the bottom of the metal panel gap, nasty little crease in it.
With some heat, some quality primer , bit of dolphin glaze and some paint youd get that 90-95% perfect for around £200-300 (more if London).
Won't last forever, maybe 3-5 years and it'll probably blister as the coating on the panel is damaged. -

Anyone here have experience importing a car from South Africa? Have a feeling it may be my only way to get an affordable mk2 escort...

Drive one home? Im only half joking

I’ll post some more tomorrow when I’ve made a bit more progress, most of the jobs other than fitting the body kit are very unexciting at the moment.
I’ve test fitted the seats and steering wheel today and discovered it’s a pain climbing in and out of the roll cage

I’m trying to find a solid colour to paint it currently, It’ll then wear door squares and a sunstrip to start with but that’ll be it I think

It has occurred to me but I'd be worried about parts breaking and not being able to bodge or source spares.

Petrol indeed. Not sure how much to ask for. I've offered it to a mate who's having a think. Good luck with the volvo! I'll let you know if my friend decides not to go for it...

Sounds good.
While the full rally livery is fun, I reckon keeping more low key is the way to go.

Ta. Despite being resoundingly dead while I spent three hours blocking the south circular at rush hour on Monday, it started first time and ran quite happily the morning after when garage blokey gave it a go, so I think it's going to be a fun one.
Any ballpark suggestions of cost on this? Astra VXR if that makes much difference.
Would a mobile mechanic be likely to be able to make good, or would it need taking to a garage.
