Are you PS4 now or Xbox One?
As far as i'm aware, both require total HDD install for RDR2 so digital would suffer no stutter issues on that front...

PS4, but good point.
For some reason physical media still feels like the default on console, even though I haven't bought a PC game on disc for over ten years. Battlefield 2 was probably one of the last, in 2005.

Dark Souls remastered drops on the Nintendo Switch this week.
Much looking forward to my commute next week.

I think ShopTo does delivery on release date. I've not bought preordered anything in ages but they used to do a guarantee and if it didn't arrive on the release date they'd give you some in-store credit.

I haven't bought a single physical game for my xbox one since it launched...
-
• #19858
I'm going to have to do this then!
-
• #19859
Also I see no point in buying the disc now, day one patches are usually huge too.
-

it's the £10-20 levy they put on digital purchases that makes me buy the discs. that and being able to sell/loan the games when i'm done. overpaying for digital "ownership" is bullshit, it should be cheaper not more expensive

I still buy discs because I go to CEX and see what they've got cheap.
-

Agreed, but at least Microsoft's backward compatibility policy means that come the xbox two (?), i can play my digital purchases from my 360, xbox one and the next generation.
Also, with their new cloud strategy, it won't be long until all those digital purchases are available to play on my phone/tablet via their streaming service.
This will make discs inherently obsolete (finally).

You should look into game sharing - if you're on xbox.

Yep - means I'm generally a few months/years behind everyone else, but means I can pick up Tomb Raider and RDD2 when back in the UK in Jan for fewer pounds.
Speaking of which, is the new TR any good?

Thanks, good to know. It’ll be a while before I pick up AC Odd as I only just grabbed Horizon ZD for the price of 13 sausage rolls.

I agree with this. I got Black Ops 4 the other day and think it's shite, digital download feels like money down the drain now.

Not sure how many people on here have VR set ups, but we just pushed our announce trailer for Tin Hearts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oU_Uaztuwi4

Doom for 8 notez on playstation store. tempted, but i'm not a fan of 1st person shooters, mostly because i find aiming with a controller about as much fun as trying to thread a needle on a bus.

It's a great game with a pretty awesome soundtrack.
Although it is very FPS, so if that's not your bag, best skip it.In addition: I have the Switch version too, that is borderline impossible handheld

yeah. WASD or gtfo

£8 is a bargain - it's so much fun

Digital pre-loads for RDR2 start at 3pm GMT this Friday for xbox and playstation.
A whole week to make sure it's downloaded in time. Also unlocks at midnight so you don't have to wait for that amazon package to hit that mat at 5pm.

This is both awful and also mighty impressive (real time texture mapping)

Speaking from experience, you should keep your expectations in check.
I found latency pretty acceptable and framerates ok. Image quality however was utterly dreadful. That's with everything ethernetted, so I can't imagine wifi being up to much.
Cheers, have prime (to my shame) so will go with that.
I was put off digital downloads for consoles after issues with GTAV on PS3. Had assumed that it would run better off the HDD than optical, but only after release found out it was specifically designed to use both at once. Consequent stuttering was very noticeable.
