I also ordered up a set of BB7 callipers from the cheapest seller on eBay - they came this morning, look and work fine and no import charges, and a cog and front tyre from Planet X.
The 27.5” wheel I had put on the bike has a track hub so a new front wheel was needed, I happened to have a Mavic Aksium wheel that I had no use for since going back to rim brakes on my Pomp so I’ll be 69ing the Hummus (ooh err).
Getting it set up this morning took a bit of faffing about, I forgot that when I’d welded the rear disc mount I didn’t align it with the dropout slot very well, it’s in line with the dropout front to back wise but the slots in the disc mount aren’t parallel to the slots in the dropout. It just needs a few extra washers inserting under between the caliper and adapter. Also had to ‘finesse’ the front adapter which was too wide and positioned the caliper inboard of where it should be, a bit of filing sorted that out and using a big v brake spacer in place of the small one in the Tri-Align system meant I could use a rather tasty 185mm Hope lightning bolt rotor (should be a 180mm).
Got a bit of a ride in before work and it’s so much fun being able to back-pedal again. And the two brakes makes the bike much more usable. I was never able to confidently manual the bike with the coaster so getting back that ability is great.
Looking forward to hitting some proper off road terrain later in the week.
