Loads of decent roads, avoid Ambleside and Windermere in aeaosj, horrible, constant coach's of OAP and Germans (not hating o these groups, there's just so many of them).The west side of the lakes is my area, much more rugged, some excellent driving roads. All the faster Twister a roads and cool dual carriageway race ways have been ruined, average speed cameras, traffic calming and generally ruined. Good b roads are a plenty.
Take compliant larger sidewall tyres that enjoy working at 5c in the rain, because that's what it's like most of the time .

Anyone driven around the Lake District? Are the roads fun to drive? I’m heading up there later this year. I have the choice of a practical 4x4 estate or an mx5.
