Well they are sexy.
I get them on eBay at a good price often.
Avid Shorty 6 stops me fine but less mud clearance. Tektro 720 are also fine and easy to set up.
I have a pair of sexy Frogglegs in pink I can let go real cheap. Or a pair of black Planet X froggies when I get rid of my rando frame.

I'd like to measure the canti spacing on the frame i'm intending to use them on, its an old Neil Orrell and i'm not 100% sure it'll take modern brakes....

Fear of stresses on forks not built for disk, and cost of disk brake hardware.

I didn't mean the fork - I wouldn't braze anything except eyelets onto an old fork to be honest, including canti studs. New fork would be required either way methinks. But I don't really know anything so take that with a pinch of salt.

Cable disk calipers are cheap, 6-bolt QR wheels can be had cheap and overall it'll brake 30× better than cantis. But yes, you won't be able to do it for £30 or whatever if that's your budget.
