Fuck me they’re expensive. Probably around four to five times what I could justify
-
• #1303
Well they are sexy.
I get them on eBay at a good price often.
Avid Shorty 6 stops me fine but less mud clearance. Tektro 720 are also fine and easy to set up.
I have a pair of sexy Frogglegs in pink I can let go real cheap. Or a pair of black Planet X froggies when I get rid of my rando frame. -

Thanks man, all out of £££ atm and the build is for next summer, so this project is all on paper at this stage. Appreciate all your advice though!

"Where's me 40"?
-
• #1306
Sorry what?
-
• #1307
Says so on the metal surface under the frame.

• #1308
Pink frogglegs you say ? For sale? :)
-
• #1309
Yes

"Where is me lid?"
An isopropyl alcohol bottle was missing a lid so I put it there with the text. Lid returned.

thanks, I'm keen
I'd like to measure the canti spacing on the frame i'm intending to use them on, its an old Neil Orrell and i'm not 100% sure it'll take modern brakes....
I'll prob take them anyway though

Awesome, thank you!
I'm a 1 inch aheadset, tyres and stem (lol) away from building. Will throw up a CP when it's time.
Can't do Monday, will PM you to arrange.

These are not modern at all.
And might actually be missing the springs now I remember.
Pm me and we can work it out -

I have absolutely no need for these...
The quintessential thought preceding every good purchase.

Building a bike around a set of brakes isn't frowned upon anymore these days.

tried to cop, but was out-bid last minute :)

Why not braze on disc tabs?

Fear of stresses on forks not built for disk, and cost of disk brake hardware.
-
• #1325
I didn't mean the fork - I wouldn't braze anything except eyelets onto an old fork to be honest, including canti studs. New fork would be required either way methinks. But I don't really know anything so take that with a pinch of salt.
Cable disk calipers are cheap, 6-bolt QR wheels can be had cheap and overall it'll brake 30× better than cantis. But yes, you won't be able to do it for £30 or whatever if that's your budget.
@lmananimal your bijk is john.
I will bring a seat tube reamer to work Monday so you could pick up after work if you want.
