Two questions.
Has anyone had a geared frame made by Mielec?
Is anyone else having avast blocking their website?
-

Can I ask what the weight of a trck frme is?
Heavier then a Dolan precursa?
Would he use the columbus aluminium tubing used on the mash frmes? -
• #5055
Do you know does the Chris king headset fit nicely? 34mm version.

11,000km on my Mielec frame and no problem. He's using 7005 aluminum tubes. No idea if they are Columbus or Dedacciai

And it's dead. Oh well; 5 years of daily commuting lugging my weight around, left over night at Paddington, at least two attempted thefts & several crashes (self inflicted & taxi-assisted) - pretty decent value for money!
Now what to replace it with...

Looks nice, would you mind sharing what a frame like that roughly costs nowadays?
-
• #5062
About 300€ (Depending on smooth welds or not etc) It is a bit heavy but it stuff as fuck
-
• #5063
I've ordered 5 frames with about the same configuration, different tubing and they were around 1.9kg +/- few grams.
@SamuelBlackMetalRider your build is awesome.
EDIT: this is my recent build

Thanks yours is great too. Like the light red touches. Need to change the saddle to have BLACK rails tho :p a one of them Cambium all black would be great. Love my C13, tho not stiff enough to ride hard.
15,000KM on my Mielec from April 2017

Is that a Thomson Elite X2 stem? Thinking about getting one for more negative drop, as my deda sits a bit too high for my taste.
How many km have you been riding on carbons? Did you drilled the seat tube to fit the bottle cage?
-
• #5067
Yes it is the X2, not to be used with carbon bars though. Stem cap is also Thomson, like the seatpost in 31,8mm.
The X2 is 6' but i think there's a 17' ??I have ridden about 1,500km on this Mielec but +15,000km on my 1st Mielec with carbon wheels. Intense riding exclusively, training and racing. No commuting.
And yes got the frame drilled for the bottle cage, so much more elegant like that. One my 1st Mielec there is the plastic strap that you can see on the 1st version of the Black Gloss. Works fine but eventually i will have it drilled too. Mielec aluminium is very solid so no worries

Why custom and then a fuck ton of spacers and a stem pointing down?
-
• #5069
I was expecting a tad bit more negative drop for the 6' thomson, close to flat looks. The 17' would be too negative. Got the stem on it's way, i'll test it next week.
-

It's recommended to have a small spacer above the stem with a full carbon fork. 3 spacers of 1mm isn't much in my opinion. Plus the spacers i put are cool with the cut-outs.
Finally negative stems are just sexier, more race oriented. Like the Cinelli MASH stem that can only be put on the negative to -17'

• #5071
But it looks like 3 x 10mm spacers.
Not

10mm I assume you mean.
But why would you have the frame made the wrong size in the first place?
30mm of spacers is fine but when you have the option to have a bike made to your exact size, why would you have any? -
• #5073
73+17 is 90.
If you want flat, -17. Pretty basic stuff -
• #5074
Yes 3 spacers of 10mm indeed my bad.
Nothing wrong with that in my book.
Also "custom" with Mielec isn't for the size. I ordered a frame size M. I never gave my measurements or anything. It's custom in the sense that I chose all the tubes of the frame specifically, shape and diameter. And he made the tapered headset on request, something he had never done before.

Right you are, not sure what I calculated. Thanks.
