I didn't -do- anything. The rim doesn't allow tyres to seat properly unless you bang it up to 120psi+ with a track pump. My mini pump wouldn't manage. Same rim with tubeless tyre was problem-free.

Depends on tyre and design dude. Not all have same bead quality. As it goes too, tubeless is becoming the norm, so many teething problems and universal standards have yet to be ironed out. I've not had a single problem with lightbicycle wheels, and neither have many people. 10/10 would buy again.
