  • I'll go back on Monday to check.

  • And here is a mega zoomed in picture of the ginger one.

  • Fair enough. I would seriously home them though and save them going in a cage waiting to find somewhere else to go and costing a charity money

  • You shouldn't think of it as them just being shoved in cages and left to languish until somebody rehomes them.

The charity will also try to find and trap the mother, plus any other kittens that might be in the vicinity, and sort out neutering and medical care for them all. They're used to doing this kind of thing and have the right facilities for it, and contacting a rescue shelter is absolutely the right thing to do.

I do understand wanting to go out there and snaffle the little blighters yourself though :-)

  • Yes of course. Just don’t like thinking of the poor things out there until someone goes looking for them next week. Goes without saying that I’d take them straight to the vets but yeah you’re right about the mother and maybe more little ones in the area.

  • Get in touch with the cattery next week and say you want to have them once they are ready?

  • Had a look on their site and they say that part of their adopting scheme includes a home visit which would be fine but only in the local area for cost reasons so may not be possible. Will certainly enquire. Good idea

  • I guess if you are not too far away from their catchment area then surly it’d be cheaper and makes more sense for them to visit you rehome these kitties as quickly as possible...

    Keep us posted!

  • Black kitty upstairs this evening was begging to go inside by meowing loud at his door non stop... he had a bowl of dirty water, no food and was sitting duck in the rain during the light shower earlier... I almost took him in out of pity... almost...

  • Got home this evening to a flat smelling suspiciously of shit, and then being greeted by Dizzy with her back end matted with semi-dried diarrhoea. Bad enough on most cats, but pretty grim on a long-haired Coonie. Had to wait til the wife got home, then we got her into the bathroom and in the bath and showered her bum, tail and legs down with J holding her front end and reassuring her and me wearing workshop gloves and soaping the crap out of her fur. A gentle towelling got most of the water off, then a big fuss and two Dreamies and she’s under the bed for a massive grooming session.

She took it very well, she’s a big gentle thing, no biting or scratching. Hopefully she’ll be ok in the morning or it’s off to see the vet. Flat still smells of cat shit, mind.

  • I do understand wanting to go out there and snaffle the little blighters yourself though :-)

    100%! They were so cute.

  • i'm assuming you found the shit?

  • What shall I do next?

  • Going to look at a little rescue cat tomorrow. She is 6 months old and was found left in a cupboard by some house clearance people (really makes me angry that people can be so heartless). If we like her and the cat rescue place is happy with the home/boat survey the following weekend then she will come live with us.

It has been so lonely without a cat about, we will always miss Lula, but there are so many cats in need of a home we couldn't wait much longer. Home is where the cat is.

  • 😸 I hope it works out for you and the kitty. If living on a boat is all she knows from here on in then I guess it wouldn’t be too hard to train her to get used to it? She sure would have an adventurous life ahead!

Home is where the cat is! Couldn’t agree more!!! 😸😸😸😸😸😸

  • On my sofa tonight . Not one of mine. Now considering we have 3 male Maine Coons does this cat qualify for some kind of bravery / stupidity award?
    Is ever so cute tho.

  • He is lovely , we sort of brought this upon ourselves as him and his brother were living rough after being abandoned a year ago when his previous owners moved and left them. ourselves and our neighbours redomesticated them and our neighbours took them on as we already have 4 .
However this one seems to prefer it here rather than next door so is always coming in when he feels the coast is clear.
Last week I fell asleep watching telly on my day off and when I woke up he was asleep on my lap!!
Two of my boys hate him tho.......

  • I love a good "neighbour cat". There's a black cat that comes to visit me and lets me pick it up and carry it like a baby.

  • It will tell you what it wants...
