I've got a super C SQR tour saddle bag that I'd like to fit to an old peugeot... but it has a skinny 23.4mm seatpost. the clamp is wayyyy too gappy to work (it's the standard one not the oversized one).
If I fashion a shim from some old innertube, wrapping the seatpost to give it some added chunk is that going to be sufficient? I wondered if this might be an option. I'm a bit worried whatever I try the bag will still be swinging around all over the place.
I'd wrap the seat post in aluminium cut from a drink can and wrapped round a few times to make up the size. It's easy to work, and easily available. Rubber will compress too much and deteriorate quite quickly.
