may as well wait for the ps5 next year now if your thinking of going to the "top level" of consoles
(or of course whatver the xbox will be - xbox 2? ) -

The PS4 pro is great but the god of war pause screen makes it sound like a jet engine. Loud enough that playing while my gf watched tv in the same room was not really an option. Apparently quite a few games suffer from it too.

This is where I'm on the fence with Assassins Creed Odyssey.
PS4 Pro - 4k, sofa, but 30fps and lower quality gfx
PC - 2k, desk, 60fps with higher quality gfxBoth have controllers.
I'm not sure which to get tbh -

I know the dilemma. These days I tend to stick to shooting games on PC or ones that aren't (weren't at the time) out on console like Cuphead.

My most hated video game series ever.
Read comments under video for laugh.
Thank you Dunkie as always.

Good excuse for a living room PC build. PS4 for console exclusives only.
Might do this myself with the leftovers if I get tempted by the new i7 9700/9900.

I did a focus group for Ass's Creed Odyssey a few months ago. I don't think we told them what they wanted to hear.

I'd imagine it'll be like GTA V right that the PC version will release in a few months.

So bloody tempted to pick up an xbox one x.
But my 4k tv is in the living room, which I share with housemate, which means limited gaming time.
First world problems indeed.

ha, that closing summary. so true

Even if you use it to play at 1080p, you'll have a better frame rate and most games will render at 4k then downsample to 1080p, giving you a cleaner image.
Also, it's super quiet (quieter than a normal one or s) and quicker to use and to load games etc.
Also, you could just buy a 4k TV for your room at the same time...
I have a Philips 4k TV you can have for £100.

interesting, i bought a wall mount for my ps4 pro and did not experience jet engine levels at any time.
I would put this down to the wall mount allowing for better airflow ? -
• #19814
that sounds like it probably is the correct solution but in normal usage it seems like it's extremely common.

lol ok yeah i cant remember this happening, maybe i loved the map screen too much, i can see why people would not be impressed.

It's in storage so I don't have the exact model but it's a 40" Philips android smart tv from a couple of years ago. Not going to be a patch on a brand new oled but certainly more than decent enough for a bit of RDR2.

I've taken a couple of months off at the end of this year to go cycling. Should I just sack it off and just dedicate it to RDR2?
-
• #19823
The fact you're asking that question means you have an answer already... look within.
-
• #19824
You'll see more in RDR2 and get less tired than you would irl. And you'll be able to sell the pelts of the animals you trap.

... to go cycling
And you'll be able to sell the pelts of the animals you trap.
Can do that irl too

agreed,
For what its worth, I got a ps4 pro this time around (had a year off) I don't have the 4k tv to go with it yet but it definitely provides the frame rates I know the normal one couldn't.
