    Hi all,

    I have this great french steel bike for sale. Would be an excellent pub / station bike (new wide puncture proof tyres). Rides well and needs nothing!

    Size wise, it is 55cm for the seat tube and 56cm for the top tube (both taken centre to centre), so it is good for someone 5ft9-5ft11 (about 176 to 181cm in metric).

    I have fixed it up to use in France for a trip around Lac Du Der and I have ridden 60 miles on it since recommissioning it.

    It has been repainted silver and Peugeot stickets have been added at some point in its life but it is not a Peugeot. Original colour is Royal Blue so perhaps a Motobecane. Definitely entry level steel. not lightweight.

    Equiment includes:

    • Mafac Racer brakes (with original pads that do not squeak);
    • 85mm Pivo quill stem with alloy bars;
    • Solida double chainset;
    • Simplex rear derailleur & downtube shifters (5 speed freewheel which could be upgraded to 6 or 7 speed);
    • 700c clincher wheels.

    What I have done to it:

    • New dark grey bar tape (£10);
    • New brake cables (inner/outer) (£10);
    • New Schwalbe Finta 700c x 35mm tyres with K-Guard puncture protection (£30);
    • Adjusted gears, bottom bracket & headset;
    • Fitted a used Shimano 600 Arabesque front derailleur I had in the parts box;
    • Trued the wheels; and
    • Fitted a used seatpost and saddle as they were missing.

    All in, I have £50 worth of parts in it + over half a day of work. It rides well, the wide 35mm tyres are very comfortable.

    I am asking for SOLD for £125 for the complete bike, test rides from Stoke Newington.

    Cheers

    Vince
