Hype intensifies. I'm getting to the point where, if RDR2 isn't the best game I have ever played and most transcendent experience, it will somehow be a let down.

That's what game hype aims is.
It will, somehow, be a letdown -

fuck, there's so many games I need to buy. So little time. I'm still playing through Yakuza 0, there's just so many side missions.

is there different versions?
apparently so. a special edition for £25 more

Even if it turned out that the game mechanics hadn’t changed at all, and it just had different stories, locations and characters, I wouldn’t not be one bit disappointed. But fishing! Shrinking horse balls! Relatives with beef and long memories! Dis gon be gud...

To add to the list of great games coming out at the moment, if anyone likes JRPG's, Dragon Quest 11 has just had it's UK release on PS4.

Love the fact you can download games at a whim, but boy is it slow. Just bought Horizon Zero Dawn and currently waiting for it to download, only 46GB but has taken nearly 4hrs with another 2hr to go.

so whats xbox live gold? bit extra!?
-
• #19763
RDR 2 isn't on games pass or games with gold (the subscription thing which gives you free games) so you have to buy it.
Once you've bought it, you can play the offline single-player game for eternity at no additional charge.
If you want to play any game online for xbox / playstation / switch with friends (except Fortnite i think) you have to have their online service subscription.
Xbox live is around £30-35 per year.

thanks soul
think i was getting confused with XBOX GAMES PASS, XBOX LIVE , and XBOX LIVE GOLD.

I tend to buy PS+ from CDKeys as they are marginally cheaper than the direct route.
Im sure Xbox is the same -

- Xbox live - the online service that allows you to play games with
others online (~£30-35 per year) - Xbox live gold (actually called games with gold) - 4 free games you get every month as part of your xbox live subscription (£free as long as you keep up your subscription)
- Xbox game pass - like netflix but for games. A constantly refreshing list of 100s of games that you can download and play for free as long as you keep up the subscription (~£8 per month)
- Xbox live - the online service that allows you to play games with

Wow. That's quite an offering. Nintendo needs to step up.

I did get a trial of the Xbox Game Pass and I didn't find a great deal that I really wanted.
-
• #19769
why does not one go for #3 all the time considering the price of games these days and how quick boredom can set in...... i guess its a restricted list - actually i got time to check..........................................................................ok so its not a massive list.............. i see.

As far as i know, you need xbox live in order to also be able to subscribe to games pass. Could be wrong though.
In the US, Microsoft have just launched a monthly subscription where you get the Xbox One X, Xbox Live & Games Pass for ~$30 per month.
Seems a deal to me...

Xbox, but I went for the middle one (not the one with additional online content). Think it was £65 or something...

Interesting development this one, and be good if they bring it over here too - it's a two-year subscription, so it brings console ownership into the same model as mobile phones (and more 'affordable' than a lump sum for a PlayStation if they don't follow suit)...throwing in the games pass too is a genius addition really.

Agreed; i like it.
At the very least, they should bring Xbox Live and Games Pass under a single monthly cost if you want the option - regardless of hardware.
Either way, it shows how progressive Microsoft are in this industry compared to the abortion of an online service Nintendo just launched and the archaic views Sony have on cross-platform play etc...

I've slightly fucked up on new Assassin's Creed.
Drunkenly pre-ordered on Thurs night when I got home from the pub, and it had downloaded just before it unlocked at 11pm. On starting, given the choice between 'guided' or 'exploration' mode, I bravely chose the latter.
After clearly not paying enough attention to the following cut scenes, am now stuck on the very first quest where I'm supposed to 'equip my gear' but have no idea what or where from.
Have happily been going around in the meantime doing side-quest things, in the hope that I'll eventually stumble across my missing stuff. Don't want to restart (and probably repeat the same mistake) or resort to google yet, so this could take a while. At least I might have levelled up a bit when I actually get going.
