I beg to differ. The design used on the CX70, or the very under-rated R550s is the easiest to set-up as it takes a lot of the guess work out and it's always centered.
EDIT: that design could slip without housing though.
I should have posted a picture of my shimano stx brakes. They came with the little tubes but were brittle and perished when I cleaned them up
I see. Just try use regular housing? I've never seen those tubes as spares.
