tested an electric bike a couple of weeks back, on my 15mile commute, and found depending on your normal speed, it doesn't make much of a difference time wise, it's more a case of, it doesn't take as much effort to get to 15.5mph, and/or maintain it, so commute takes same amount of time roughly, you just don't feel as knackered at the end of it..
I get it maybe comprised, wear out quicker etc but having something I can take on the bus/ train whenever I want, is a big plus.
It mainly for winter commuting as for some reason I am really slow and the trip back takes nearly a hour and half. Hopefully with an assisted bike it’s more consistent 70 minutes or so.
