My seatpost is currently slipping every time
I ride it to and from work, is there any solution to resolve this issue? -
• #5253
How tight is the seat clamp? It’s probably just needing a slight tighten, most shops don’t check this out the box properly

You sir are a genius! I’ll check if this works properly tomorrow when I go for a quick spin around town. Thanks again.

Just needs to be snug, don’t over wang it!

Sticking a 17T sprocket on was easier than expected. I'm sure I read something ages ago about needing to file down ridges on the sprockets etc, but perhaps that was for the SRAM hub. Slotted straight in, and not dragging or catching on anything.
I went with a used SRAM cassette in the end as they can be broken apart far easier than a Shimano one.
It's shifting gears fine on the workstand, will road test tomorrow once this rain has gone.

Great! I think my case might be the same. M6 that feels slightly too high on the bars, so thought I will get these medium rise from SJS. How wide did you cut them?
-
• #5258
I cut to 570, I like 600mm on my s2 but my gf liked the 520 she had. I think wider is better, it’s more stable and less twitchy etc.
We have tonnes in stock at sjs!

Still keen to mod a 3 speed set up that’s not expensive or a faff!

Where's the best place to get that front light mount?
-

Brompton Junction

Ha. Brompton are ridiculous and won’t sell it alone, you have to buy a cateye volt 400 to go with at £50

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a Brompton after spotting the sxc nine streets S6L colour scheme. I'm 6ft 2 and wondered whether I need to order the telescopic seat post?
I'm currently own a 2014, 58cm Trek Madone - also do I need a taller steering post? Don't really like the look of the M/H bars. Cheers -

What’s your inside leg? I’m 6.1 and just get on an extended. You probably need the tele but go try a demo and check. Again, handlebar height/style is personal, go try a demo!

What are people’ views on using an electric Brompton for a 35 mike round trip commute. Most of it is paved. I realise a full sized bike is better but I only do this 2/3 times a week and it’s more for winter.
Also I like the flexibility of not having to worry about locking a full size bike out and about on London and visiting friends.

Sounds like a good option... the bikes ride brilliantly, an investment, but I think worth it. I’m at somewhat bias though..
Have you test ridden?

Got a Brompton T (2017) in very good condition (barely used) that is gonna get advertised soon but I thought it might be worth checking here first. Any interest? How does £90 collected sound?

Thanks @maynardeames! I'll test ride tomorrow. My inside leg is 88cm. Cheers,

No, but I thought I would get some advice before doing the whole test ride thing. Evans Kings Cross are close to me so was going to try there. I can’t work out whether it worth getting the six speed as the 2 speed with a motor should be enough.
-
• #5271
A what?!
-
• #5272
Hahahha forgot “bag”. A T bag, like the S bag but rolltop and larger
-
• #5273
Go to Covent Garden junction, fuck Evans.
-
• #5274
2 speed with a motor should be enough.
Cant put my finger on exactly why, but it’s so sad to read this.

Personally I think a 35 mile road trip on a Brommie is stretching it a bit. They’re not great over distances - the riding position is necessarily compromised and they’re a bit twitchy, esp on crappy roads (ie London).
Yes it worked... no cable shortening as the levers sit a bit wider. Nothing to worry about, the bars are great, what have you got / looking to achieve?
