• 1) Carbon SRAM Force 22 Chainset + Wolftooth Direct Mount Drop Stop Chainring

Pretty pissed off to have to sell these as they were the last piece of the TCX puzzle, and looked great on the bike, but the clearance of the arms on the chain stays is just a little too close for comfort.

Gave them another try and the width of my stays hasn't got any narrower :(

    Included:

    • SRAM Force Carbon Arms - 172.5mm
    • 30mm PF30+ Spindle (longer 30mm spindle)
    • 3bolt Direct Mount 130BCD removable spider
    • SRAM Force X-Glide 53/39T 130BCD Chainrings
    • WolfTooth Direct Mount DropStop Chainring - 42T

The arms have superficial marks on them and some light heel rub - they are functionally sound.
The outer ring is used but has plenty of life left, the inner ring is more used.

The Wolftooth ring is basically brand new, its been ridden less than 2kms

    £110 - £100 - £90

  • how bad was the clearance? My rival is ok....

  • You running bb/pf30?

I found the clearance to be little enough (say 5-8mm ish) that I could flex the crank arm onto the stays, which means, when it’s got 1400w going through it as I’m trying to get up an(y remote) incline it’s going to rub...

3D+ Qfactor just seems wider, and wide enough to not be able to hit stays.

Those stays are fooking wide though eh!

I have a feeling Apex Q-Factor is also wider.

Rival 1.3mm wider - about the difference between rubby rubby and no rubby rubby.

  • You running bb/pf30?

Same bike as you, i'll keep my cranks then. I do have some Si cranks somewhere I should just use.

  • Yeah but the frame is a bb86 press fit BB so more likely to be using a GXP bottom bracket and a 24mm spindle unless you used a bb86-> 30mm converter; the gxp rival cranksets have a narrower Q factor and a shorter spindle shorter - the same Q-factor and crank arm width as the BB30 Force cranksets......

  • As for Si cranks - you’d need a 137 / maybe get away with a 125mm MTB spindle which are designed for wider MTB bottom bracket shells (to ensure the arms cleared the stays as IIRC the Q-Factor on SI/SISL arms is pretty narrow) and could risk the bearing / spindle contact points misaligning; I was also going to try this with some SISL arms but I suspect that the chainline and Q-Factor will be way off even if the bearing/spindle contacts arent....

  • bottom bracket standards thread....

  • For anyone who is interested in buying these cranks, you genuinely shouldn’t have any remote problem with clearance unless you have a TCX which has the widest chainstays I’ve ever seen in my life....

  • bottom bracket standards thread....

god what a nighmare this is

  • HONESTLY MATE - it fucking haunts me - I’ve had to sell a beautiful set of SRAM Red cranks and now a set of Force.....

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO - MY BEIK CANNOT MATCHHHHH

  • AND ROTOR CRANKS JUST ARENT BLACK ENUFFFF

  • I think these won’t work, but any chance they’d work on a Croix de fer’s 68mm bb without too much hassle?

  • Absolutely - just need the right BB - Rotor, amongst other brands, do a 68mm eng threaded bb to 30mm converter.
