Picked up this from my bike co-op for £10, I’ve read online there pretty decent. Going to team it up with a basket on my retro MTB/dad bike/do anything bike. Just needs a good clean and maybe a bit of satin black paint.

Ready for winter. There’s something about the lever position that feels right, but doesn’t quite look right...

Are they 26.0 compact bars? Try and get the fronts of the levers at 90 degrees to the floor. That's a reasonable rule of thumb...
So if you rotate the levers forwards, the transition from bar tops to hood will be flatter and the levers themselves will point more down than in front of your bike.

Yeah 26.0
I was trying to get the levers set up so the transition is more bullhorn like, so they are set up flat. I’ll try lowering them a bit. They’re pretty old campag levers so maybe they just don’t set up right on modern compact drops... -

If it feels right, don't change it just for IG likes.

I hear you loud and clear, but it'll bug me if visually its not quite dialled in.

Comfort > aesthetic
Old levers are an awkward shape on modern bars.

Comfort > aesthetic
You've changed, man...

Think this was 6 years ago so evidence suggests otherwise.

Dunno if comfort > aesthetic and brakeless fixed touring are happy bedfellows

Yeah but campag aero levers on compact drops is the topic here 😂

Lovely.
Can't help thinking it'd look better with destickered rims though. But then its not my bike.

I'll probably do this in some time. Just like the play with all yellow accents.

Nitto stems are measured weirdly:

Weird is right

Good job! Why haven't you painted the forks though?

hmm, well, don't have an answer for that!
The Peracini now has a shorter stem and some compact bars. Pretty comfortable on it like this. Won’t be riding it unless it’s bone dry and would like to keep it as close to how it has been built up by the previous owner as I can. Will put a new set of cables, pads and tape over the winter and plan to enjoy it properly next summer.
