I get your point but the message this sends is that it's OK to come on here and post your racist and homophobic views as long as long as you're in the industry to warn others he's unsavory. Regarding "lynch mob" behaviour which perhaps I might be accused of - I feel more sympathy for the collaborators and colleagues than I feel the need for vengeance against Mamnick Guy (though the line between the two is blurry and it's important that I make distinction very clear from now on). I am repulsed by his selfie with Safiya Saeed last night which is, beyond all doubt, some sort of calculated face-saving manoeuvre. If I was a Muslim woman and this fucker had taken a selfie with his arm around me and posted it on Twitter, and tried to use me to retain a microscopic shred of his credibility, I would want to be told about his despicable views. The same is true if I'd made a pair of socks with him (or whatever he makes, I haven't looked at his website). To not make people aware is the greater crime - like telling your friend that their partner is cheating on them.

Disclaimer: I never Tweeted at anyone, sent any messages, etc. beyond my comments in this thread. But if there was a way of doing it non-publicly I might have.

Many people don't find homophobic jokes funny. Or racist ones. Or misogynist ones.

Some people do.

The latter group, in my opinion, have less respect and empathy for their fellow humans than the former. They contribute to the perpetutation of tribal rifts and persecution.

It's easy to not be in the latter group. It just takes a little thought and a little effort.

To remain in that group just takes some laziness, or some ignorance or some malice.

a) it is beyond belief that you really think that this forum is based around the LGBTQ community.

Although you may not know that LFGSS is an abbreviation of "London Fixed Gear Single Speed", I hope you will not insult us so much as to pretend you didn't know that this is a bike forum.

b) a group of people are vehemently disagreeing with you.

c) you respond to that group by claiming you thought they are on an LGBTQ forum, and are therefore, by extension, members of that community.

d) this attribution was said in a denigratory context and tone, implying that such a membership would degrade their platform from which to disagree with you.

e) such an implication is either homophobic or, alternatively, an attempt at humour with a homophobic tone.

f) If it was a humour attempt, you should probably ask Michael Winner for some coaching tips. He does it better (worse) than you.

If we really want to bring awareness of Thom’s attitudes and beliefs to a wider audience then a concerted effort on Twitter and especially Instagram is what’s needed. We all agree on here, we’ve no need to convince each other. If anyone needs motivation or confirmation of how sickeningly Thom can use his own Twitter account to manipulate an image of himself hours after defending his racist views and bigoted ideals on here, then go have a look. He has a presence within the cycling community that I find, frankly, intolerable given everything I knew about him before and everything I’ve learnt since. We could carry on this thread forever or do something. I’ve made some of his collaborators aware, what they then choose to do is up to them. I’ve said all along if Thom took ownership of views and was transparent to his collaborators and associates I’d have less of an issue. He’s entitled to his views, I don’t agree with any of them, but he should own them and not hide behind fake usernames, fake social media accounts and everything else. He’s already duped the decent folk at Kibosh and Albion, I find that abhorrent, and there’ll no doubt be others. At no point is he repentant or even capable of reflection or open to real debate. He came on here to have an open dialogue. Really? I don’t think so. He came on here because he couldn’t help himself, I knew that and he’s played his part. It’s all here, it’s damning and most of it has come direct from himself. He always asks you to provide evidence, well here it all is. What we know choose to do with it is up to us. Just make people aware of the the thread, the rest will happen by it self. Thank you.
