Basically, throw your bike in the bin and get a new one with internal hub gears and a belt drive.

Worn chain/cassette can also cause sloppy gear changes.
TBF, the 5700 shifters have a slightly soft feel compare to the 6700 when new, worsen over time due to wear and tear making it felt sloppy despite new cable, chain, cassette and housing.
