Front light has an integrated USB charger which is a neat and handy solution for on the move power.

I've got a set up for grabs for £75.

You don´t know the half of it. I´ve already changed my mind about the taillight. And about the hub (twice). And about spoke counts. Having already ordered some 28/32 Archetypes.

I just copied people who raced with them successfully.

I seem to have settled on 32h front, 36h back as I´m a chunky fucker (for now), Archetypes front and back and DH-3N80 cuz wider and taller body and cup and cone . Those Schmidt hubs sure are purty though. Feck. Thanks Skinny.

I´m a bit confused about the E3 Pro 2. People on here sing its praises but ze Germans say it´s not as good as the latest straßenzugelassen lights or at least not worth the premium. Can anybody compare and contrast the round-beam Supernova against the IQ-X and/or the Edelux II?

Anybody have a D1 for sale?

I recently had my E3 Pro 2 nicked and replaced with an IQ-X. Can't point to a massive difference in beam without having them side-by-side, though I found the E3 easier to level than the B&M.

One thing I liked about the E3 was the actual power button that felt like a real switch, so you knew whether it was on or off (easier to troubleshoot wiring faults) whereas the B&M has to be rolling to turn it on. The B&M standlight will turn off when you turn it off, though.

If the IQ-X got nicked, I'd probably buy another rather than go back to an E3, though can't speak for longevity as I've only had it a couple of months.

How was it stolen? I’ve been wondering how likely this is to happen...

I hadn't really done anything to prevent it, so it was easy enough for them to undo some bolts and snip the wires. Saddle went too (that had bolts with pins, but no help), so I think they were just hoovering up anything easy taken.

I attached mine with a torx bolt with a security pin in the optimistic hope that it might be enough to prevent that kind of thing, sounds like I might have to think of something else :-/

It's a 10 year old Edelux. Never been turned off in that time. Must have done 75,000+ miles.

Mounting lug worked loose and rattles like a rattly annoying thing. SON recommended me to use a gap-filling superglue which I did 6 months ago, but on weekend I finally routed the tail light cable through the frame to neaten things up and the gap-filling superglue became loose with all the fettling and the tail light only works now if I tilted the light forward or wedged a scalpel blade in it (couldn't find any shim material in work!).

I assume it's either a bad earth/internal connection... thoughts anyone?

And yes the scalpel will get replaced with a more permanent bodge... :)

Anychance anyone wants to swap a Son Edelux II for a Supernova E3?

Out of interest, why do you want to swap? Will prob be investing in a set of lights in the new year.

I love my Edelux, it's a great light and served me very well.

But I also really like the supernova tail lights. At the moment I run the two together, but there's no built in standlight in the taillights, they rely on a supercap in the front light and the Edelux doesn't have that. Supernova E3's do, because they're designed to work together. I may just save up for a bit, get a supernova and run the edelux as the poshest part on my commuter.

Wie bitte? Does this mean one can simply wire up an IQ-X E to this thing and get 150 lux at 25kph from a 6v/3w-rated generator?

Any experiences of the Forumslader replacement control board for the IQ-X (AC version) would also be appreciated.

I don't know if that's what he used, but I rode with a guy who definitely had an E-Bike light coupled with a son hub.
And as he was German in Germany I would guess he used the Forumslader.

I need to replace the b&m Lyt front lights on the city bikes. On both the capacitor is rattling around inside and no standlight is bad. That's 4 of them broken now.

Not keen on iq because money is a bit tight right now and b&m breaks.
I will try axa blueline, anyone has a different suggestion for a front?
Priority is good side visibility.

Bluelines are good in my experience. Have had a 30 and now running a 50.
Sidevisibility is great.

That´s interesting. Is there any chance you could have this German briefly describe their setup on here as Jens During, the designer of the Forumslader, seems too busy to answer emails at the moment?

There´s also the Spanninga Axendo, victor of last year´s Fietserbond headlight test in the bang for buck category. It´s a descendant of the Philips Saferide. The main difference is that the former has a smaller case than the latter does. Both are made of chunky cast aluminium though. I´ve been very pleased with the Saferide for many years and the Axendo seems equally well put together.

So I would read that as a definite yes.

Edit: It also says it first uses the battery but also works directly from the dynamo, so my guess is that your wish for 150lux at 25kmh should work at least as long as it is charged.

Thanks for the spanninga recommendation. Looks like a good light, but I want more sideways visibility.
