Soak up the atmosphere with either:
- a boat trip. One with a bar at sunset is a good shout.
- Take bikes and head south down the Amstel. It's very pretty and you can stop at bars or the beach by the rowing club.
Eat vlaamse stoverij(?) at the Flemish culture centre. Not a good option for vegetarians.

Just wandering around is a good call, but if you want to wander in a slightly more informed way you can join a walking tour. It's nominally free, although you'll end up tipping your guide a bit. Keep an eye out for various markets, which you can revisit on your own.
The Rijksmuseum is quite impressive and an audioguide can help you do the "greatest hits". I understand the Van Gogh museum is also very good and on my list for next time.
The ferry across the river can take you to NDSM , which is part of a regenerated/ing industrial neighbourhood with lots of artists in residence and you can go to Pilek or Noorderlicht for that sunset beer.

Why do food preparation labels, which are presumably written to mitigate legal risk, say
Ensure food is piping hot
When that is just a very obscure way of saying 'very hot'?
Or is there an established specific meaning in law that I have not been able to determine?

I just had a look at prices and £350ish each way for the Hull-Rotterdam ferry vs £70ish each way for the Eurotunnel means it isn't really an option unfortunately!
@coventry_eagle I've never used Bla Bla Car before, how much hassle do you think it'd be to find someone travelling from Berlin to the UK (or at least part of the way) with enough room for hundreds of records and other assorted bits and bobs?
@Greenbank that's not a bad idea at all, I'll suggest that!

Not tried myself with large volume moving, just a bike and a large bag.

Ah ok, I'll have a look into it! Even if that doesn't work out we could potentially offset some of the fuel costs by offering a ride to Berlin.

roughly measuring the Hollowtech 2 single ring's chainline tells me it's about 50mm from the bike's centreline. Whereas a single speed is about 45mm (happy to be pointed to a place where all of this is actually written as gospel).
Is there a 'recommended' way to add 5mm of spacers to the back of the freewheel?
(I haven't found a Darwin Awards thread to post this question in, so here we are).

There is a really good website that helps you choose colours. But I can't remember what it is and my search isn't helping.
Basically, I have 3 colours and need some matching contrasting/accent colours. Not sure if it's the correct terminology, but these colours opposites.
Any ideas?

Might be worth trying the websites of the big paint brands like Dulux, etc

If anyone cares about my Ryanair experience the bike arrived okay. I wrapped it in a spare duvet (now greasy) inside the bike bag in the end. Will be up Sa Calobra some time in the next few days hopefully!

Enjoy! 3 weeks, 3 days and counting until I'm back in Mallorca. Hope the journey back is equally uneventful. Where are you staying?

Near Alcùdia in a monstrous house out in the country, with a healthy even split of cyclists and “normals”. It's a lovely temperature this time of year but the mosquitoes are vicious which I wasn't expecting.
The only problem is my creaky bike!

Shame you wasted all the grease on the duvet! Very jelly, have fun!
