Learning to weld

Anyone know of anywhere in/near london where i can learn to weld? Mig or tig ideally. Much of what i have seen online seems to be trade qualifications that require application and a lot of time/money. Ideally i'd be looking for an evening class or something. Im not hoping to become a welder by profession, just want to expand the skillbase a bit

Find the colleges that do the trade qualifications and city and guilds courses etc and look at their nightclass options.

I did a nightclass at the college in Glasgow that does all the nautical engineering/plumbing courses during the day.

Which was great. It was a while ago now though. After level 1 you can move onto more advanced stuff in level 2. Never quite got round to that unfortunately.

I bought a welder whilst picking up a tandem frame, stick welder for £40.. Maybe try looking around for a cheap one and teach yourself on some scrap metal? hundreds of videos on the university of youtube to help you along ;)

If you've got the space buy a cheap set up, make loads of mistakes, mess up a load of material, watch youtube and get a base understanding. That way when you go train you'll get a lot more out of it.

yeah thats what i was thinking of doing, what type of welding would you suggest learning first?

MIG is like using a glue gun, you should try that. I learnt from this bloke on youtube
