Discs any day.

sorry but this is real nonsense, if you can't true a rotor or set up brakes properly then get a shop to do it for you

No cantis no chat.

What if I do and still prefer discs cos of improved modulation and power?
-

Ouch, I didn't want to start another disc-vs-rim brake discussion... I live in northern Poland, so it rains every now and then, all my previous brakes (bar the childhood MTB) have had mechanical discs (or HyRd), so I have almost no experience with other types.
The main consideration against Jamis is whether discs and carbon fork will make it more appealing for thirds to aim for, unlike the old-fashioned cantis. On the other hand, same could possibly be said about drop bars (though I really like the various hand positions on my CX)...
Or alternatively I could but S-A 3 speed hub for my singlespeed alloy Vitus Dee and try this as a budget solution. -

Hah! Well if anyone wanted to buy a 52cm cross check (sorry cupcakes) and sell me a 52 or 54 straggler I would be totally keen.

• #20017
What about the vertical compliance though, ffs?
All this disc Vs canti is distracting us from the real issues of the day.
-
• #20018
Don't forget rim brakes are technically disc brakes
-
• #20019
The earth is flat so technically your feet are disc brakes too.

I've only worked on discs, never used 'em.
They seem nice enough. -

Cantis are generally pretty shit in the wet (and the rest of the time) discs for year round riding definitely.
