Ouch, I didn't want to start another disc-vs-rim brake discussion... I live in northern Poland, so it rains every now and then, all my previous brakes (bar the childhood MTB) have had mechanical discs (or HyRd), so I have almost no experience with other types.
The main consideration against Jamis is whether discs and carbon fork will make it more appealing for thirds to aim for, unlike the old-fashioned cantis. On the other hand, same could possibly be said about drop bars (though I really like the various hand positions on my CX)...
Or alternatively I could but S-A 3 speed hub for my singlespeed alloy Vitus Dee and try this as a budget solution.
