I just had a look at prices and £350ish each way for the Hull-Rotterdam ferry vs £70ish each way for the Eurotunnel means it isn't really an option unfortunately!
@coventry_eagle I've never used Bla Bla Car before, how much hassle do you think it'd be to find someone travelling from Berlin to the UK (or at least part of the way) with enough room for hundreds of records and other assorted bits and bobs?

Overnight ferry from Hull to Rotterdam would cut a good chunk off your drive. It's probably not the quickest as they do laps of the North Sea, but you arrive after a kip and breakfast.
