    That probably explains why Cervelo didn't beat a path to your door to recruit you to design their new bikes. I can think of at least a couple of ways the bullmoose design might lead to less drag from the bar/stem assembly, but that's not even the main reason why they did it. As with F1 cars and fighter jets, much of the work of the bit which hits the air first is shaping the flow onto the bits which follow after.

  • What bits follow after the stem other than the seatpost?
    Could the rationale for the dual stem be increased stiffness?

    The cynical capitalist in me wonders if some aero innovations are attempts to differentiate products from rival designers. Cervelo wants potential buyers to think they are better, so they come up with a unique stem. Otherwise the S5 looks like a lot of other aero road bikes by Canyon, Cannondale, etc
