  • yeah I've got about 12cm of seatpost showing, will probably have to have a look at one in person to see whether one with an extended seatpost would fit as is, or if I'd have to fiddle with it..

  • Nice thanks! Looks like a good quality piece of kit.

  • From experience of very similar, defo need to at least take the seat off, most with extended either just squeeze in or just don’t. Many choose the telescopic post simply because they travel a bit

  • Btw tried to remove current wheels in order to put on the extender and EazyWheels. First one fine, second one a bitch and now the screw is ruined. Will have to find a way to force remove it :/

It stripped like butter without putting any particular force into it.

  • I had so much trouble removing them when swapping the frame, unbelievable... Good luck!

  • On a similar line, any idea about the machining of either SRAM or Shimano sprockets to fit the SRAM hub? I have a 6 speed S Type, but I'm forever bouncing between "4th" and "5th" when cruising. I feel a 17T sprocket would be perfect for me.

*edit I'd rather be told how to achieve it rather than buy the wrong sprockets and a dremel, and waste ££££.

  • The sram hub uses 3 spline, so you can use 3/32 sturmey sprockets, issue is, they don’t want to shift! They have no ramps etc, so, the easier thing is to buy a sturmey hub bwr, then you have 12 spline, can fit loads of sprockets including shimano ones..

  • Indeed! Will have to use some brute force :/ or drill a small hole somehow into the screw.

  • Got a photo?

  • Darn. Lotta thread lock in there for no reason.. annoys me daily

  • You could get a Dremel and cut a slot into it for. Flat head screwdriver, or just cut the head clean off and get some mole grips on the stud.
    Whereabouts are you?

  • Cut wheel off with Stanley knife(or junior hack saw, or steak knife), remove bolt with grips.

  • Brentford, London mate

  • Yup you can, both have shimano spindle.

  • All the above suggestions, but also if thread locked, heating it up will help, hairdryer or carefully with paint stripper.

  • I don't know why I said a SRAM hub, I do indeed have the SA BWR hub. Ok, so many Googlings later, the sprockets for the 3-6 speed SA are 2mm thick. Shimano 9 speed are 1.8mm, SRAM 2mm.

Going to have a hunt around for some cheap as chips sprockets :0)

  • or boiling it @GwGs

  • 9 speed shimano ones pop on no problem!

  • @HoKe and @aggi Cheers for your thoughts on carrying bromptons on planes. I made a last minute late night decision to get the folding B&W box - encouraged by the amount of space which it won't take up in my small flat when not in use. When packing the bike into it, it feels a bit flimsy; but despite appearances my Brompton made it out of Heathrow and back again in one piece. BA put a fragile sticker on it - maybe that helped! After a successful trip, the box is now packed away and waiting for its next flight. If you want to borrow it for a trip let me know.

  • .

  • Store your summer clothing in it

  • Ah, bit far from me else I’d dig it out for you. You had any luck?

  • Haven't tried. Going abroad and had a bit of too many things to finish before leaving. Will try when back in two weeks time. Thanks :)
