  • I love mine, it's a 3litre super turbo diesel, 300bhp tuneable to double that if you wanna spend a few grand on turbos and gearboxes but such a great machine. I've driven defenders (including the 'twisted' variety) and you can't compare in regards to build quality and driving experience. A very solid capable machine that is incredible off road and comfortable on the motorway that can be had for not too much money and only go up in value if you can afford to maintain them (which isn't nearly as much as people think)

    I have a second child on the way in 2 weeks so sadly i will be selling my 2 door to fund something more practical (4 doors and modern) and I might buy a series two landlover when we move to house with a garage! I've be very sad to see her go. :(

    p.s the link above the for the blue one is a petrol 2.73 - about 100 bhp and and 10mpg, my om606 diesel has 300bhp and 30mpg. forget petrol for Gwagens. Also can be run on 100% veg oil, 2500 litres a year tax free all above board.

  • If there's one thing I've learnt since I turned 30, it's that I am a wanker. So yeah I would. I still reserved the right to judge tho.

  • Best case scenario - 65mph very light on throttle, more like low teens if it’s more of a wheelspin situation 😳, day to day 24mph ish. The older w460 is rear wheel or 4wd switchable so on the road it’s much more efficient for fuel and power driving just 2 wheels. Everything 1991 onward is permanent 4wd

  • The last time I checked the stuff used by autowindscreen-type places/vans was pretty special and not routinely available to the public.
    Building/Construction silicone does not work, (no not my attempt, but the 'work' of the geezer I bought my Grand Espace from).

  • I used this stuff to stick down the windscreen trim on the Isuzu, as recommended by my local independent motor factor. Has held firm for 6 months so far.

  • Pages ago but I'll bite. It might cost you £50,000 a year, not most people but you do have a certain style with your cars! That particular one looks pretty good from the photo and I see Tilover is making a good job of his, they are very much more comfortable than a defender.

    I wouldn't get a short wheelbase again if I had to choose, and I'd avoid the petrol engine versions as Tilover commented. The model and colour he has are probably the best, that in LWB would be close to my ideal. People do tend to spend way more on them than they should so a second hand one might be good value. Anything ULEZ compliant would be expensive though.

    I moan about the effort I put into mine but I enjoyed every minute of it then haven't missed it at all. I wouldn't swap my van for one, modern engines/gearboxes, air conditioning, fuel economy etc. all win out.

  • I had a trip in a LWB 1 year old Sprinter last week. 4 cylinder Diesel. Freeway, bumpy dirt roads, city traffic. They are a highly superior vehicle - I'd have one in a heartbeat if they weren't so expensive.

  • Funnily enough that's high on my list at the moment as a new work vehicle. They're very impressive indeed. Especially the 6-by 4wd version!

  • Trying to decide between the VW Kombi and Vito Crew as a ULEZ compliant option for the current 2 vehicle situation. Currently have a Citan which is brilliant but would need more seats and the space in the back. The Citan is 6 months outside the ULEZ cut off. Any thoughts?

  • The guys at the shop told my missus you need special glue but I think they may have misunderstood that it's just for some trim and not the windscreen itself, as they were talking about pressure testing or something. This trim has already been glued and held for 3yr (previous owner). I was thinking Gorilla Grip but I think it expands too much. Silastic was another option but I don't know if you can get it here and I don't know if it's strong enough.
