  • Current tweaks actually - my Zee shifter was not playing well with my bars so I cut the levers back a little, works nicely now.

Grip is shorter because it was cut down in a previous version.

  • .

    reading fail, as you were

  • It's about 2 feet too long at the moment.

  • Version 1. Bar tape is way too thick and not enough orangish, need cable ends, carbon seatpost with small setback and precise adjustement system. 7.7 kg approximately without pedals.

  • Some progress on my dad's bike. Yes I know its not a looker but it's what he wanted.

    To do:

    • trim hoses for brakes
    • cabling
    • mudguards
    • replace temp saddle
    • find a mega spacer to replace the little ones
  • Your setup was a great inspiration, my friend ! ;)

  • My Ribble got an extra gear today - upgrading from 8spd 105 to 9spd Dura Ace. Took me way longer than it should have done to work out I needed a 1mm spacer on the hub - won’t be test-riding today it seems.

  • I spoke to tam/burf of BTR fab. When I got some more bottle cage mounts done. Wanted my stays crimped, 35mm fits but I wanted more clearance for mud, they basically said, no, it will 99% cause a failure unless done so minutely that it’s not worth it. It needs to be done pre weld Up etc.

  • Nice update !!!!! nice rims BTW
    7800 pedals ? wow !
Do not leave the plastic lever like that all night anyway... :)

  • Cheers! Pedals are 105, not 7800, unfortunately. I managed to get it all finished up apart from the hub spacer.
I like the rims, they just make me want to no use the brakes :-)

  • I think Gaston is trying to say you should flip the hoods back Otherwise they crease.
I know now because I looked at the flipped back hoods of my hylex which has been like that since before the weekend whilst typing this comment and they're now, creased..:/

  • Yep - I managed to get the bars wrapped so flipped the hoods back. I’d imagine older hoods are even more prone to creasing so didn’t leave them like they for long.

  • I want something with gears and mudguards for commuting so I decided to convert my old Fuji to 650b:
    Mockup:

Turns out the chainstays are too tight:

So I had to dust of my stick welder and make this:

    Crimping in progress:

    Success:

    And its rideable:

Need to dial in the fit, wrap handlebars add straps to the pedals and trim the mudguard stays. Got a front rack currently sitting on my mtb that im going to try aswell. So far this has been a zero budget build, the only thing I've bought is the c-clamp used for crimping

Years ago i needed to "crimp" the chainstays on a BMX frame to clear a bigger chainring and i just fucking twatted them with a ball hammer. The frame never cracked

  • I prefer the @Tjabo approach tbh.

  • There ought to be a DIY crimping thread!
