If you can grab the spokes and yank the wheel/tyre around by hand it's probably not tight enough on the roller. You should make sure it's dry and up to decent pressure too. I know some people will also use isopropyl alcohol to clean the tyre surface but I don't bother with that shit.
I'll have you know I'm the height of self-control. My 'cellar' has remained unraided for years and all the iso-p is still in the tin. I've not even had a taste.
