  • Rockpooling in Cornwall. As a kid I’d be leaping around without a care. With my onset of decrapitude, arthritis, torn cartilage etc I am gingerly moving so slowly, anxious about twisting a knee, slipping etc.

  • When I sit down on the floor, I make a little groan.

  • Can you get up off the floor unaided ?

  • When I [sit down | stand up | lean over | reach up | picks things up | make any physical movement], I make a little groan.

    ftfy

  • Which end releases the groan?

  • decrapitude

    Good typo.

  • Can you get up off the floor unaided ?

    I can. So far.

  • Which end releases the groan?

    All of them.

  • i've taking to coming down the stairs of a morning and trumping on every step. i remember my dad doing this when i was about 5.

  • By trumping I’m guessing you don’t mean building a wall and tweeting right wing fascist comments.

  • Not a typo

I am used to assessing people’s levels of craptitude.

  • Thunderbirds are GO!
Picked this up from Facebook- all sounds FAB to me!

53 years ago today, Thunderbirds were GO for the very time! Who remembers their very first rescue? See the whole series on @Twitch from 2.30PM BST today - including 3 BRAND NEW EPISODES made with puppets and models. Watch here: https://www.twitch.tv/shoutfactorytv

  • Does it count as being middle aged that I have no idea what Twitch is? I see it all the time. I'm 33.

  • I didn’t know either, but clicking the link and then google (surely the middle-aged person’s life saver) is your friend
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitch.tv

  • Hearing about something and deciding not to look it up because it's a new thing is actually very middle aged. Bonus points if you proudly boast about such ignorances.

  • I loved Thunderbirds.
Had a model of Thunderbird 2 with Thunderbird 4 in the cargo pod.

  • Which one is you?

  • The forum has ~57,000 registered members. I don't know the gender breakdown, but let's assume 50:50, so that would mean there are ~28,000 registered male LFGSSers. About 27 % of them will get a hernia sometime during their lifetime (if you are female the probability is only 3%), with an increase probability with age. So that means over 7,000 forum males will get a hernia at some stage. I got mine earlier this month and had it operated on last Friday. No cycling or running for at least 4 weeks, bah! Middle age has never felt more painful or predictable.

  • I don't know the gender breakdown, but let's assume 50:50

    hahahahaha

  • Take your time recovering.
My dad had a hernia and being a workaholic, really messed it up.
Needed two more surgeries because it opened up again.

  • So that means over 7,000 forum males will get a hernia at some stage.

    Shouldn't that be 'a hisnia'? :)

  • And yes, as Lolo hinted, the sex breakdown is nowhere near 50-50. As usual on cycling forums/cycling organisations, it'll be something like 80-20 in favour of men. The last time I checked, organisations like the CTC and the LCC were doing a bit better, 70-30 or so.

  • not really what I want to hear right now, but thanks for the advice anyway :)

also trying to avoid laughing (not too difficult right now), sneezing and coughing ...

  • I know. I was going for a conservative estimate, but at 80:20 that means over 12,000 LFGSS 'hisnias'!
