Can’t wait to see this

Went to see A Star Is Born this afternoon to keep wifey happy. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are both excellent, her especially. The updating of the story is well done and one particular scene is excruciatingly toe curlingly good.

Just watched The Grand Budapest Hotel. It really is very Wes Anderson

Just got back from Venom.
Wife and I both enjoyed it.
Neither had any prior knowledge of the character really, but the film did a good enough origin story.
Plenty of plot holes and nonsense, but I'd give it 7/10 -

A businessman with a disfigured face obtains a lifelike mask from his doctor, but the mask starts altering his personality.
If a black mirror episode was done in Japan in 1966. Very Japanese in the dialogues and a bit heavy handed, not perfect but certainly makes you think. If you're into that sort of slow burning movie.

As kids, they escaped a UFO death cult. Now, two adult brothers seek answers after an old videotape surfaces and brings them back to where they began.
Bit amateurish in parts, but hey it's a low budget debut. Stick with it and it's actually not bad, the good bits and some ideas are really good.
Also watched Naked Gun 1 with my 9 year old. The borrowed microphone scene certainly cracked him up...

I didn't realise Mandy was out today, so I'll be trying to find a cinema to watch that in over the weekend.
-
• #14609
How have you seen it already?
-
• #14610
internet purchase. cough.
not sure I would advocate paying cinema prices to see it either. it's firmly in snakes on a plane levels of novelty territory.
-
• #14611

obviously. my biggest issue is he's not in it enough for the first half. who wants to sit in a big dark room not watching his face on screen for minutes at a time.
-
• #14614
Oh by purchase you mean 'purchase'
Or am I getting completely the wrong end of the stick?
-
• #14615
I had a quick peek, in the right mood I think I will greatly enjoy it.
-
• #14616

-
• #14617
Thanks mate.
Not sure if it can (haven't tried) but I'm guessing they'll be a way to watch it without downloading it.

A star is born. First 20 mins actually thought it might be quite cool/original. Nope. Every lame trope from every film you've ever seen. Zero chemistry between the leads. My girlfriend laughed out loud at the final song climax. 4/10 avoid

The Last Man. Ryan Gosling is good but the film is about 40 minutes too long in my opinion. My wife's review: "I know they were going to the moon but I feel like I went with them". Both of us were willing it to end.

^ A Star is the same, waaaaay too long
-
• #14623
Mandy.
Fuck Yeah. Wish there were more films like this. Sound, photography, killing all 10/10
Cage at his best too. -

Went to see A Star today. A very sad story better-sung than it is acted. 5/10 for Bradley's blue eyes.

If anything will put you off A Star is Born, it's this fucking weird profile/interview.

Almost went to watch The Predator on a weekday off. Even for a fiver the trailer looked pants - glad I saved my cash.
