  • I have a long(ish) shimano UN-55 in my parts bin new-unused .. yours for free if you can collect from SE1.

  • Thanks but it'll mess with the chainline. Time for a trip to Mercian.

  • Thanks @gintas_ce

  • Flip stem and rotate bars forward/down and you're golden.

  • I think the stack is too low for me to do that as the frame is borderline too small and the steerer is cut already. Haven't given it a proper fitting yet so saddle and bars still need adjusting though. Hopefully I can flip the stem.

  • Regardless of stem flips your handlebar angle/hoods height game needs some work

  • Get a sick +17° 150 mm stem you'll be golden

  • Mavic tyres? You don't intend to ride it?

  • Yeah I fucked up the bar tape too. But that's partly because it's shit £4 Deda bar tape. I am concerned about my spine though so going to leave levers/stem/etc. until I get a chance to actually ride it and then will adjust position accordingly. This stem was only intended to be temporary loaner but seems like it's the right length actually. Maybe will flip it and take a proper photo for Insta likes then ride it at +7° like the inflexible, brittle rod that I am

@Lolo even riding round a car park I can tell they suck ass as I was skidding with miniscule brake force. But I just needed something to get it rolling and this was the best option. Although the whole thing ooks expensive it's only cost me ballpark ~£350 so far and very much not keen to drop £50 on a set. My other option is some very worn Veloflex Master that I really like. But anyone got anything decent in 25mm lying around that I can buy? Will only work if you can post it within the next couple of days.

PS 25mm tyres look weird as fuck after riding >32mm on every bike for the last year. I always feel like tyres should be fatter than frame/component tubes so with OS bars 25mm looks stupid.

  • I’ve got some all black veloflex but in 23mm :-/

  • are they 25mm tyres you have on it atm? IIRC mine was only able to take 23s (because of the brake cable that goes across the tyre between the arms) and it looked like the same model. I think they changed the arms at some point, but worth checking

  • Yep, 25mm. I have a good few mm clearance with the brake cables but that's probably where it'll stick if I went any bigger. They are Yksion Elites that I found in the local bike coop.

@MCamb hmm, really not keen to go down to 23mm. Unless you can let them go really cheap! Majorca roads probably don't need 25mm I guess?

  • New fork day

  • Je suis jalous de ton bike surtout

  • You had it in Alain Michel yet, why did you give it to François?

  • Put some new rims on the Bolt and replaced every bearing (RIP Chris King BB). Rode it 150 miles. Feels nice.

  • @frankenbike
